Terms of Use

SubSlot for iOS · Last updated 4 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Makinon ("we", "us") for the SubSlot app, its widget, its Mail share extension, and this website. Downloading or using the app means you accept them. If you do not, delete the app.

Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement also applies to your copy of the app. Where these terms say more than Apple's, these terms apply; where they conflict, Apple's licensed-application terms win.

1. Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use SubSlot on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Apple's Usage Rules — including Family Sharing, where the in-app purchase supports it. You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app, and you may not reverse engineer, decompile or modify it except to the extent that applicable law says you may despite this sentence.

You need to be at least 13 (or the minimum age for an Apple Account where you live) and have an Apple Account.

2. What SubSlot is — and is not

SubSlot records subscriptions you enter, or that it reads from receipts you hand it, and shows you what they cost. That is all it is.

  • It is not connected to your bank, your card or your inbox, and it never charges anything except through Apple's In-App Purchase.
  • It cannot cancel a subscription for you. A "cancel" link opens the provider's own page or Apple's subscription settings; you do the cancelling there, with them.
  • It is not financial, tax or legal advice. Totals, trends, savings figures and the keep-or-cancel review are arithmetic on the data you gave it, offered as information, not as a recommendation.
  • We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any of the services named in the app's catalogue. Their names and logos belong to them and are used only to identify them.

3. Accuracy is a shared job

Receipt parsing is automated and gets things wrong: an amount, a date, a currency, a billing cycle. Every parsed field is editable before you save it, and checking it is your part of the deal.

Exchange rates are European Central Bank reference rates fetched from a third-party API and refreshed at most twice a day, with a bundled snapshot used offline. They are indicative — they are not a dealing rate, and converted totals will not match what your card issuer charges. Do not use SubSlot as the source of truth for anything that matters financially; use your bank statement.

4. Your data, and backing it up

Your subscriptions live on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your own private iCloud database. We hold no copy. That is the point of the app, and it has a consequence you should plan for: if you lose the device and iCloud sync was off, the data is gone and we cannot restore it. Keep iCloud sync on, or export to CSV from Settings.

What we do and do not handle is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

5. Free and Pro

The free version tracks up to 5 active subscriptions; cancelled ones do not count against the limit. Pro removes the limit and adds the keep-or-cancel review and CSV export. Reminders, widgets, iCloud sync, screenshot scanning and the share sheet are free.

Pro is sold three ways, at the prices shown in the app in your local currency:

OptionWhat it is
Pro LifetimeA single one-time purchase. Not a subscription, nothing renews.
Pro YearlyAn auto-renewing subscription, currently with a 7-day free trial.
Pro MonthlyAn auto-renewing subscription.

For the auto-renewing options: payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and Apple charges the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions — cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves Pro active until the end of the period you have paid for. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription. We cannot cancel, refund or change a purchase on your behalf: Apple owns the billing relationship.

If a subscription lapses, the app returns to the free tier. It never deletes what you already tracked — you keep everything, you simply cannot add more until you are back under the limit or buy Pro again.

6. Refunds

Purchases are made from Apple, so refunds are Apple's to give: use reportaproblem.apple.com. Where you have a statutory right of withdrawal or a legal guarantee — for example under EU or UK consumer law — that right stands and is handled through Apple as the seller. Ask us anyway if something went wrong; we will help you make the case, but we cannot process the money.

7. Acceptable use

Use SubSlot lawfully and for your own subscriptions. Do not use it to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to attack or interfere with the third-party services the app talks to (the exchange-rate API in particular — hammering it is not on).

8. Our intellectual property

The app, its design, its name and its logo are ours or our licensors'. These terms grant you a licence to use the app, not any ownership of it.

9. Changes to the app

We may add, change or remove features, and may stop supporting older iOS versions in future updates. Apple may also change the platform in ways that break something. We will avoid taking away functionality you have paid for, but we do not promise the app stays identical forever. If we ever discontinue SubSlot, your export remains yours — take the CSV.

10. Availability

The app runs on your device and needs no service from us to work, apart from exchange rates. We do not promise the exchange-rate provider, iCloud, the App Store or this website are always available or error-free.

11. Warranty disclaimer

Except where the law says otherwise, SubSlot is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it is free of errors, that receipt parsing is accurate, or that reminders always arrive — iOS caps any app at 64 pending notifications and can defer or drop them.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost savings, or loss of data, or for a subscription you failed to cancel, a renewal you were not reminded about, or a figure the app got wrong. Our total liability for any claim relating to SubSlot is limited to what you actually paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim (which, for the free version, is nothing).

Nothing here excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law — including death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, and, for consumers, your statutory rights, which are unaffected by these terms.

13. Apple's role

You and we acknowledge:

  • These terms are between you and us. Apple is not a party to them and is not responsible for the app or its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Support comes from us, at support@subslot.app.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for any claim that the app or your use of it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, arises under product liability or consumer protection law, or infringes a third party's intellectual property rights.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

14. Termination

You end this agreement by deleting the app. We may end it if you materially breach these terms. A Lifetime purchase survives our discontinuing the app, in the sense that the copy you have keeps working for as long as it runs on your device; it does not entitle you to future versions forever.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and material changes will be flagged in the app or on this site. Continuing to use SubSlot after that means you accept the new version. If you do not, delete the app — and if the change materially disadvantages you mid-way through a paid subscription period, ask Apple for a refund of the remainder.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Singapore. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts. Otherwise, the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction.
